Pakere, Uganda by info6814
The Pakere Church/Orphanage was our very first Fish Company project. Uganda, is known for its lush foliage, mountainous regions and low lying valleys and because of its vast and varying countryside, many animals thrive there. Unfortunately, the people of Uganda are plagued by poverty and diseases, which have left millions of children orphaned and homeless. It is estimated that there are 2.5 million orphans in this country that is roughly the size of Oregon. Of those 2.5 million, almost half are orphaned as a result of HIV/AIDS. Because of these statistics, we knew this was where God wanted us to start. The Pakere Church/Orphanage project was completed in 2014. This orphanage is home to 50 children and is supported by a thriving church congregation of almost 300 people. It is a blessing to know that the church, led by Pastor Ochora Johnbosco, lovingly leads and cares for our orphanage there. The children of Pakere have a safe place to live, be loved and know Jesus.
