We were hosting a women’s conference when we discovered the need for a second orphanage in Thailand specifically for little girls rescued out of sex trafficking. This project already had our heart, but when we found out that it would be attached to the same church congregation that ran our first orphanage we had to say yes.
In 2013 there was a story in the news that I will never forget, four Christians and one Muslim were killed when violence broke out in the small town of El Khusus, outside of Cairo. A group of Christian boys were drawing on the wall outside a Muslim church. A man who saw them began beating the children. Soon people from both sides of the community joined in and before it was over 5 people lay dead.
Fish Company has made the jump to Central America. Guatemala is sandwiched between Mexico and Honduras and is a country filled with breathtaking mountain regions, fertile jungles and beautiful ancient ruins. It is also a country still reaping the effects of bloody civil wars, corruption and extreme poverty.
Medara Metla is a small village located in the State of Andhra Pradesh. The population of the surrounding area is 25,000, but this tiny village boasts 400 people, most of whom are members of the church there, led by Pastor Andugula Dasu Babu.
With a population of more than 1.3 billion, India is home to majestic sights such as the Taj Mahal and the Golden Temple of Amritsar. Unfortunately, it is also home to 25.7 million orphans. Approximately 60 million children in India live below poverty level and about 500,000 are forced into sex trafficking every year.
Fish Company partners with ICM to build much-needed churches, hope centers and orphanages around the world. In 2014 ICM launched the Women’s Initiative, which is a team of women, led by CEO Janice Rosser Allen, intent on empowering other women to make a difference in this world.
When we discovered the need for an orphanage in Thailand, we were excited about the new direction God was taking us. Fish Company was being stretched to a new Continent. Darongpon is located in the Phosai District of Northeast Thailand, and there is a great need to provide homes for the many orphaned and abandoned children within this region.
Loliando is located near the city of Arusha in the Maasi District of Tanzania. When ICM presented us with the Loliando and the Nanja projects at the same time, we prayed about it, and rather than choose, we felt God stretching us to take on both.
Tanzania features scenery such as Lake Victoria, Mt. Kilimanjaro, and the Serengeti. Farmland and animals are plentiful, but while Tanzania exports luxuries such as gold, coffee, and cashews, many of the people there live in extreme poverty. This tiny country has more than 3 million orphans, including children living on the street.
